Salfords and Sidlow Parish Council
The Parish Council held our community fun day at Salfords Social Club on Saturday 14 June. Residents
came out on a wonderful sunny afternoon to enjoy and take part in the activities. We were entertained
by a live band called ‘Something Like That’. There was a fabulous BBQ, and the licensed bar was open
all afternoon. Families were able to take part in the crafts and activities including bubble making, China
smash, safe cracker, races and enjoy watching Punch and Judy. Christ the King church ran their
ever-successful tombola stall and Sidlow WI sold homemade cakes with refreshments. Many craft stalls
were selling goods such as homemade honey.
We have re-opened our community garden and have new troughs and beds to grow more vegetables
and fruit. The Þrst planting session was well attended in mid-May, and we now meet on a Thursday
afternoon 2-3pm to get together and tend the garden while enjoying a refreshing drink. All produce
goes to our residents, and anything left over is provided to the local food bank.
We still run our monthly East Surrey YMCA wellbeing walks which start at Salfords village hall. These
are held on the Þrst Friday of the month at 10am, meeting anytime from 9.45am. This is then followed
by our Warm Welcome coffee morning where free refreshments are served from 11am. Working in
partnership with InÞnity Space to Grow, the free Parent/ Carer Baby and Toddler group stay and play
session runs on the second Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 12pm at Salfords village hall.
This is open to all young families, and we will serve refreshments, have toys, and a story and nursery
rhyme time during the morning.
We have exciting plans for a Diwali celebration on 25 October 2025—more to follow on this in future
months.
The Parish Council meets on the second Monday of the month starting at 7.30pm. Meetings are held
in Salfords village hall with March, June, September, and December meetings being held at Emmanuel
Church in Sidlow. All our residents are welcome to attend.
