St Nicholas’ Church Wall Hangings
After an initial rethink on the foreground grass
and leaves for the St. Margaret piece where
they were all taken off, the backing has been
restitched and leaves sewn on individually.
Each of these wall hangings presents a different
learning curve for the sewists, as working on
such a large-scale project does not come without a few hiccups along the way. But we’re
pleased to say the wall hanging is on track once
again and we’re still anticipating an autumn completion.
Each wall hanging is some 20 feet high and working on such a large piece brings logistical issues.
But we persevere and work our way through.
Anxious to get St Margaret completed this year, the group will be meeting on the following dates:
7th July - 25th July
Mondays from 10.30am – 12.30pm in the Nicholas Room

Update from Charlwood Parish Council
Introduction from your new Parish Council Clerk.
Hi, my name is Lisa Miles and as your new Clerk to the Parish Council I thought I would introduce
myself. I moved into Glovers Road, Charlwood in 2000, when my daughters were aged 2 and 5. In
2004 I moved to my current address on The Street. Some of you may know me from other things I have
been involved with in the village over the years, including Charlwood Pre-school, Mother and Toddler
group, Pram Service, Venture Week, Charlwood Evening WI, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. Both my
daughters went to the village school and were also a part of the Church choir for many years. More
recently I have been involved with the Charlwood Volunteers, helping to organise the Platinum Jubilee
celebrations and the Barn Dances held at Gildings Barn. Outside of work and the voluntary roles I have
held, my passion is for horses and dogs (of which I have 3 rescues) along with a rescued cat.
In my career I have worked for Surrey Children's Services as a Bursar in their children's homes, I have
also been a Business Manager in a local school. I then re-trained and spent 15 years with the NHS as
a Midwife and also worked for Painty Pots, a local business creating beautiful baby keepsakes in
ceramics. I am now looking forward to my next challenge, consolidating all of my skills and experience,
as Clerk and Responsible Finance OfÞcer. I am excited to be part of the Local Council in the village
where I live, helping to support and promote our local residents and amenities.
