July 25 Update
All Change at CPC!
At the Annual Parish Meeting in May, Charlwood Parish Councillors elected Cllr Trevor Stacey to be their
new Chair for the coming year. He then thanked Cllr Lisa Scott for holding the post for the last 2 years.
Cllr Stacey, during his statement, remarked that one of his key priorities will be to enhance communications between the council and residents. As such Parish Councillors will be holding more surgeries
starting with the following dates.
• Tuesday July 1st at 6.30pm in the Pavilion on Charlwood Recreation Ground.
• Date to be advised, but week commencing July 12th in the Conference Room at Hookwood
Memorial Hall.
Both will be attended by our new Chair, Cllr Stacey and a couple of other Councillors. Come along and
have an informal chat over a tea, coffee and biscuits.
We are hoping in the not-too-distant future to send out a questionnaire to residents to get a better
understanding as to what you would like us to improve within the parish.
It was lovely to have seen such a large turnout at the Annual Parish Assembly in May and have the
chance to speak to so many residents. We would like to thank our speakers, both Annie Simpkins from
the Woodland Trust who spoke to us about the importance of protecting our woodlands and Peter
Barclay, chair of GACC, who updated us on the current situation regarding the second runway application
at Gatwick Airport.
Hopefully by the time you read this a new bird nest/cage swing will
have been installed at the Withey, we hope to provide similar in the
Millennium Field in the near future.
Also, the chain for the toddler swing in the Withey will have been
replaced as the previous one was too short.
Parishes in Bloom preparations are well underway, Cllrs Sue Bloom and
Angela Tyson-Davies, along with local gardening enthusiast
Sandra Lees, have recently freshened up the ßower bed in front of the
Parish Hall and the planters in front of the Pavilion have all had their
summer makeover. Both Charlwood and Hookwood have been entered this year, if you would like to
help then please contact Sue Bloom for Charlwood or Lisa Scott for Hookwood.
We are in the process of creating a new Parish Council website and need some photos of the Parish.
If you have any photos that you think would be perfect for this then please send them to the
